The First Monday in May is a 2016 documentary film directed by Andrew Rossi.  The film follows the creation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s most attended fashion exhibit in history: the 2015 art exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass by curator Andrew Bolton at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It was produced by Fabiola Beracasa Beckman, Dawn Ostroff and Sylvana Ward Durrett and distributed by Magnolia Pictures. The documentary was first released on April 13, 2016 as the opening film of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.

 

The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 American comedy-drama film based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. This screen adaptation stars Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, a powerful fashion magazine editor, and Anne Hathaway as Andrea (“Andy”) Sachs, a college graduate who goes to New York City and lands a job as Priestly’s co-assistant. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci co-star as co-assistant Emily Charlton and art director Nigel, respectively.

 

The September Issue is a 2009 American documentary film about the behind-the-scenes drama that follows editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and her staff during the production of the September 2007 issue of American Vogue magazine. The film is directed by R.J. Cutler and produced by Eliza Hindmarch and Sadia Shepard.

Unzipped is a 1995 American documentary film directed by Douglas Keeve. It follows fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, Keeve’s then boyfriend, as he plans and ultimately shows his fall 1994 collection. The film put such a rift in their relationship over Mizrahi’s depiction that the two broke up over it.

Dior and I is a 2014 documentary film written and directed by Frédéric Tcheng about designer Raf Simons’s creative work for Christian Dior S.A.. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on 17 April 2014 and had a wide release in the United States on 10 April 2015. The film is centered upon Simons debut season at Dior and includes non-speaking cameo appearances by actresses Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert, Jennifer Lawrence and Sharon Stone. The documentary received positive reviews by critics.

 

Clueless is a 1995 American coming-of-age comedy film written and directed by Amy Heckerling. It stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy, and was produced by Scott Rudin and Robert Lawrence. It is loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma, updating the setting to modern-day Beverly Hills.

Valentino: The Last Emperor is a 2008 documentary film about the life of Valentino Garavani. It was produced and directed by Matt Tyrnauer, Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair magazine. The film is an exploration of the singular world of one of Italy’s most famous men, Valentino Garavani. The film documents the dramatic closing act of Valentino’s career, tells the story of his life, and explores the larger themes affecting the fashion business. At the heart of the film is the relationship between Valentino and his business partner and companion of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.
